On this trip to Mount Huangshan, I purposely booked two nights' accommodation in the Huangshan Paiyun Hotel of Xihai Scenic Area. I was prepared for the limited accommodation conditions on the top of the mountain. After staying there, I found that under the Danxia Peak, which is 1600 meters above sea level, this hotel has completely done the experience of "living in the clouds" - no need to make a living in a big open shop on the top of the mountain, no need to wrap up a down jacket and other hot water, and even the tiredness of watching the sunrise has been dispelled by half.
From the Yungu Cableway up the mountain, walk along the gentle trail for an hour and a half to reach the hotel. Along the way, take a slow look at the strange pines and rocks, there is no need to rush. As soon as I walked to the hotel entrance, the doorman came up and took my hiking bag from my hand. The first cup of hot ginger tea was handed to me upon entering, and the chill that had been blowing all the way in the mountain breeze instantly dissipated. When I checked in, the front desk heard that it was my first time to Mount Huangshan. It specially helped me to adjust to a quiet room away from the footpath. It also repeatedly reminded me that the mountain wind is strong at night, and the balcony door must be closed. Even the best time to see the sunrise at Danxia Peak the next day and the tips for avoiding cold were written on a memo and handed to me.
The moment I pushed open the door, it completely shattered my stereotype of the "cramped and rudimentary" mountaintop hotel. Although the room area is not large, every inch of space is used perfectly, with warm wooden furniture and soft carpets blocking out the coldness of the mountaintop outside the door. The thick down comforter is fluffy and warm, and at night the mountain breeze makes the windows slightly creak. Wrapped in the blanket, you can't even feel any coolness. The most surprising thing was 24-hour constant temperature hot water. After climbing the Tianshan Mountains all day, I stood in the shower area and took a 10 minute hot bath. My legs, which were so sore and swollen that I couldn't lift them up, instantly relaxed, without having to wait for the limited time hot water like I used to do when staying at an old hotel on the mountaintop.
The catering experience of the hotel is more than expected. In the Xihai Scenic Area, where all the materials are transported up the mountain by porters, the buffet dinner is surprisingly rich in categories: steaming Mount Huangshan stewed chicken, fresh stir fried wild vegetables, and even the local characteristic hairy tofu is crisp outside and tender inside. There are also hot milk and small Dim sum specially prepared for children in the parent-child area. Families with children need not worry about their children being unaccustomed to the food on the mountain. In the evening, I sat by the french window of the restaurant, watching the sunset outside the window turn the opposite Danxia Peak into a warm red, holding hot soup in my hand. The sense of steadfastness wrapped in the mountain wind is beyond the reach of any hotel down the mountain.
In the early morning of the next day, I followed the guide and walked 20 minutes to Danxia Peak, just in time for sunrise to dye the whole cloud sea into orange gold. After watching the sunrise, I returned to the hotel, and the front desk had reserved a cup of hot Mount Huangshan Maofeng for me. After staying for two nights, there was no imagined hardship or compromise of staying in the cloud, it was all a perfect fit hidden in the details. Compared with clocking in after a day of sightseeing, staying in Huangshan Paiyun Hotel for two nights is really a slow way to understand Mount Huangshan. Next time I will wait for the winter snow in Mount Huangshan Mountain, I will definitely choose here.Show more
This time I climbed Mount Huangshan, and purposely set the foothold of the top of the mountain at the Huangshan Paiyun Hotel under the Danxia Peak. After staying for two nights, I found that in the Xihai Scenic Area, which is more than 1600 meters above sea level, it is the most unexpected surprise in the journey of Mount Huangshan to have such a hotel that can bring comfort and convenience.
Take the cableway up the mountain from Yungu Temple and walk along the trail for an hour and a half to reach the hotel. You don't have to carry heavy luggage on the mountain road, and the pine trees and mountain wind along the way slowly accompany you to your destination. As soon as they pushed open the hotel door, the front desk staff handed over a cup of hot ginger tea, and the chill of walking all the way in the mountain breeze dissipated in an instant. When checking in, they specially gave me a hand drawn map of the surrounding area, indicating the best route to watch the sunrise at Danxia Peak, the view point of Paiyun Pavilion that can be reached in 10 minutes, and even the best time to take photos of the lights and shadows in the Xihai Grand Canyon, which is much more reliable than my search guide at the foot of the mountain.
The moment I opened the door to the mountain view room where I was staying, I was instantly healed. It didn't have the usual awkwardness and simplicity of a mountaintop hotel, and the warm wooden decoration blended with the mountain view outside the window. After walking for a few hours on the mountain road, the fatigue was greatly relieved. The details of the room are tailor-made for mountaintop living: the thick and warm blanket is fluffy and cozy, even if the mountain wind blows loudly at night, wrapped in the blanket, you can't feel any coolness. Hot water is available 24 hours a day. After climbing a mountain, come back and take a hot shower, and your sore and swollen calves will instantly relax. The most thoughtful thing is that the room has prepared free hiking poles and warm babies in advance, so you don't have to carry heavy equipment to go out the next morning to watch the sunrise.
The restaurant of the hotel completely exceeded expectations. At the top of the mountain where all the materials are transported by porters, you can eat hot three dishes and one soup, and even the local Mount Huangshan Maotofu is authentic. There are also many kinds of breakfast. Hot soybean milk, steamed stuffed buns and eggs are all hot. If you want to see the sunrise in the morning, you can also make an appointment to pack breakfast in advance. You can go out in your arms and have a bite of hot food when you watch the sunrise. There is a whole french window in the public rest area of the hotel, facing the western sea peaks in the distance. I came back from shopping in the afternoon. I sat by the window and had a drink of hot Mount Huangshan Maofeng. I watched the clouds outside the window slowly drift up and down the mountain peak, slowing down even the time.
The most unforgettable moment was the early morning of the next day, following the route guided by the staff for 20 minutes to reach Danxia Peak. Just in time, the sunrise dyed the sea of clouds orange red. When they returned, the hotel staff were still waiting at the door, handing over freshly cooked hot ginger tea. After staying for two nights, there was no imagined hardship or compromise in staying at the mountaintop. Huangshan Paiyun Hotel was all down-to-earth and comfortable.Show more
